Breton Shapemill of MARGRAF shapes an amazing Corinthian capital

After the modillion and the "peach blossom" marble column, Shapemill CNC milling center shapes an elegant Corinthian capital and amazes for its flexibility and reliability.

This interpolated five-axis machine with fixed bench allows you to perform multiple operations without the use of additional tools, ensuring accurate results with low machining times.

A GREAT MACHINE FOR A GREAT COMPANY

The capital was built for Margraf (originally called Industria Marmi Vicentini), headquartered in Chiampo (Italy). It is a historic company that since its inception in 1906 has been characterized by a strong focus on research, environment and technological innovation and by several collaborations with renowned architects.

Its catalog ranges from big projects to the realisation of individual natural stone and marble products such as monuments, bathtubs and much more.

FROM THE RAW MARBLE BLOCK TO THE FINISHED PRODUCT

In the following images you can see the various working phases that led the Shapemill to create a Corinthian capital starting from a raw marble block.

BRETON SHAPEMILL'S POTENTIALITY AND DISTINCTIVE FEATURES

Margraf was able to create this small work of art thanks to Shapemill's unique technical characteristics, such as:

  • Birotary head for interpolated 5-axis machining. ± 200° rotation around its own vertical axis and the second element ("A" axis) rotating from 0° to +115° and housing the high-frequency spindle;
  • Carousel tool magazine with 27 cells;
  • Superior quality components such as racks with precision up to hundreths and 6 DIN 3961 Alpha quality grade, Siemens CNC unit and digital brushless-type motors.
Shapemill stands out for its top-category performance:

  • "Fast" movements up to 40 meters per minute;
  • Giant work-table up to 4,000x3,500 mm;
  • Powerful 39.6 kW electric spindle;
  • Cutting disc max diameter: 1,000 mm;
  • "C" axis rotation: ± 200 °;
  • "A" axis rotation: 0 ° to + 115 °;
  • "X" axis travel: 4,000 mm;
  • "Y" axis travel: 5,500 mm;
  • "Z" axis travel: 1,600 / 2,000 mm;

Linea for Breton - Machine to polish straight edges

Linea for Breton - Machine to polish straight edges and shape natural and compound stone pieces.

The edge polishers "Bellani for Breton" are the result of more than 40 years of experience of the Bellani family, which customized them expressly for Breton's customers using Breton certified and approved components, enhancing their fail-safe devices still more and equipping them with centralized lubrication.
The technical assistance is guaranteed by Breton Worldwide Service Network ensuring a rapid and effective service anytime, anywhere. Workpieces to be processed are conveyed by a rubberized slat system specially designed to get the workpiece moving in a perfectly rectilinear way, contrary to what may happen using the common belts. An automatic plant guarantees that all the moving components of the system are perfectly lubricated.

"Linea" is an automatic edge polisher with rubberized slats, for the continuous shaping and polishing of flat and linear profiles, shaping of special profiles, calibration, execution of bilateral bevelled edges, drip grooves and slots on horizontally placed, natural and engineered stone workpieces.

"Linea" is an all-round machine, suitable to be produced in different configurations in order to meet the user requirements. Besides holding 8 edge polishing spindles, "Linea" can be equipped with:

  • 1 manually positionable calibrating/grinding spindle driven by electric motor, to be fitted with the diamond tool suitable to execute one of the following operations (one operation excludes the others):
      a) thickness calibration on the lower stripe
      b) execution of slots on the edge, mounting a disk on the calibrating tool
      c) edge profiling with a diamond shaped wheel mounted on the calibrating tool (the working height is manually adjusted through a hand-wheel)
  • 2 or 4 chamfering spindles
  • 1 spindle for the drip groove execution
